Jasmine Greens Park Kiosk on the Central Coast celebrates nourishing food and local produce. Owner Gabby Greyem moved from Bondi to the Central Coast 15 years ago, bringing with her a diverse background from working for Greenpeace and in broadcast journalism. Her commitment to nutrition began to shine through when she established Jasmine Greens.
Positive Community Changes
Jasmine Greens started out as a providore for flowers and organic vegetables in 2004. The food that Gabby loves is healthy and wholesome because she grew up with an organic upbringing. With alarming obesity rates on the Central Coast, Gabby established the first organic providore and cafe with Jasmine Greens. It took four years of educating the local community and simultaneously making a political statement. It was also the first cafe to bring sourdough to the area. The Park Kiosk at Umina Beach opened in 2014 as the council wanted to bring positive community change to a violent area.
Food with a Difference
Her relationship with suppliers is important to Gabby, as is the philosophy that ingredients should be artisan, healthy, and of the highest quality. Whether it’s the haloumi that’s locally made in Wyong, the free range local eggs that the farmer delivers, the sourdough bread lovingly handcrafted by Braserie Bread, or the bacon that’s free-range and hand-smoked, the produce at Jasmine Greens Park Kiosk can be traced back to the source.
Gabby trusts the authenticity of each and every ingredient, making certain that breakfast staples like French toast or shakshuka eggs are not only delicious, but also traceable. Other brunch favourites like avocado, tomato, crumbled feta, and fresh herbs on Brasserie Bread quinoa & soya sourdough champion simple produce.
A Communal Space
Jasmine Greens inherited an industrial space that Gabby softened with handmade furniture, recycled timber, and old Kuala Lumpur style furnishings. A large communal table is the centrepiece of the room, a symbol of community and friendship. In fact, friendships still carry on today from meeting at this table.
