It’s all about good, honest food at Fox Cafe in Wahroonga. The family-run business is committed to keeping Wahroonga locals happy. The customers even requested that the cafe should open for 7 days, which was a recent change that owner Bill took on board. Bill and his daughter Evelyn have been working together for 15 years now, and seven of those years have been devoted to Fox Cafe.
Located on Fox Valley Road, you can probably guess where Fox Cafe got its name from. But if we go back in time, this suburb was known for foxes that roamed around the area. Wahroonga is an Aboriginal word meaning ‘our home’. And true to Wahroonga style, Fox Cafe is the kind of fuss-free cafe that dishes up simple, tasty food that you’d enjoy at home.
At the Upper North Shore cafe, the coffee of choice is Grinders. Classic breakfasts are served with Brasserie Bread sourdough toast. At lunch, the Fox club is a popular sarnie of grilled chicken, bacon, tomato relish and rocket pesto on Brasserie’s schiacciata, accompanied by delicious, golden chips.
You can’t go wrong with hearty burgers like the char-grilled chicken burger with lettuce tomato, avocado, provolone cheese and a special mayo sauce. Or if you’re more into a classic beef burger, the Fox burger will hit the spot. Beef-lovers will also love the steak sandwich, a hefty rump steak on toasted schiacciata with lettuce, tomato, beetroot, caramelised onion and barbeque sauce.
