Hoochie Mamma Cafe, Newtown

Newtown cafe Hoochie Mamma is starting up a monthly pop up burger night from this Friday. The after hours burger and beer pop up has been dubbed ‘Hoochies & Burgers’. With a choice from four signatures burgers served on Brasserie Bread milk buns, all burgers are up for grabs at $10 a pop. And for the first hour you can even get $5 beers with your burger.

We visited Hoochie Mamma recently to check out the space and some of their delicious offerings. Head chef Stavros Stavrou along with catering manager and sous chef Gina Ugarte have come up with a fun menu that flaunts both healthy bites and naughty treats.

Everything is made in house when possible. The turn of the year saw a new menu come into play. Sweet breakfast plates like pancakes and French toast are available, but for a healthier option try the 6 seeded roll filled with double smoked ham and salad. If you’re into bruschettas for breakfast, definitely try the wild mushroom bruschetta. It’s a mushroom-lovers’ heaven with a medley of enoki, shiitake and Swiss mushrooms atop toasted Brasserie Bread quinoa & soya bread along with feta, chives and a perfectly poached egg.

For lunch you can’t pass up the Hoochie Double Burger, a towering burger containing two beef patties, bacon, Swiss cheese, and grilled onion on Brasserie Bread milk bun served with skinny fries and aioli. On the drinks front, you can take your pick from wholesome juices and smoothies.
