Paris to Provence Melbourne French Festival

Last weekend Melbourne turned on perfect summer weather and we had the Paris to Provence French Festival, held in the glorious gardens of Como House, South Yarra.  The idea of the festival is to bring all the best France has to offer for a weekend of gastronomic delights and cultural endeavours in the heart of Melbourne.

We were thrilled to take part and share our love of artisan sourdough with the crowds as they munched their way through French Mountain Bread layered with Pepe Saya’s cultured butter, warm buttery pain au chocolat and baskets full of freshly baked baguettes.  The best feedback a baker can receive is a happy Frenchman raving about your baguettes!

We also made many new friends from cheese makers to basket importers; garden sculptors to terrine experts; antique traders to pétanque champions!

Michael Klausen and Matt Brock (our Training Manager) spoke to the crowds about flavour and the techniques behind our French-inspired breads.  Everyone was fascinated to understand the work and passion that goes into the products every day.  We then toasted up our famous version of the Croque Monsieur for all to share and explained which breads would suit this delicious combination of flavours.

All in all it was a fantastic event and one we would highly recommend visiting next year if you enjoy all the good things in life.  Until then, come and visit us at the bakery in South Melbourne for your fresh baguettes and Croque Monsieur!

Big thank you to all our team who came along to support us – Lenny, Tara, Margaret, Emma, Tony, Krissi, Matt, Michael and Elise.
