Gen Mix Spring Baking Class

Post image for Gen Mix Spring Baking Class

This Spring we brought back our Gen Mix class in our School Holiday Program. But Matt rejigged it into a new and improved class! Partnering up children with their parents or grandparents, the class is a wonderful balance of hands-on family fun and learning the correct techniques of artisan baking.

In the one and a half hour class, the kids and parents learn how to braid dough that they can then shape into a wreath. They also make delicious pizza scrolls, stuffed with basil, cheese and olives.

The class continues with a lesson on how to hand-mix, knead and shape dough that they can then take home and bake in their own ovens. The kids’ smiling faces light up even more when they get their hands all sticky with dough. Clad in adorable aprons, they knead away, mesmerised by their doughy fingers.

In the meantime, Matt has toasted a loaf of our organic sourdough in the oven. He slices it up, and everyone happily munches away on buttery, jammy slices. A quick tour of the bakery gives our little bakers a behind-the-scenes look at how our bread is made.

Then finally the baked scrolls and braids are taken out of the oven, and everybody gets to take their scrumptious goods home!

Make sure you’ve signed up to our newsletter so that you’ll be the first to know when our Summer Baking Program is released!
