Le Petit Prince, Armadale

Tucked neatly away in Armadale, Le Petit Prince café is a delightful addition to Armadale’s suave shopping district. A number of wooden handcrafted tables line the wide footpath underneath generous oak trees. It’s the perfect place to sit and enjoy a smooth latte in the Melbourne sun on crisp winter days.

The café boasts tall glass windows, allowing natural light to pour over the white-wash walls, contrasted with the natural timber of the café counter and neatly arranged tables. Co-owner Adam Diamond explains that the recycled old floor boards are from a church in Richmond – he refreshed and brought them back to create the café interior.

You can’t help but notice the electric baby blue Slayer coffee machine sitting high on the counter. Serving Coffee Supreme’s  South Blend beans, Le Petit Prince baristas take pride in their work just as much as they pride themselves in delivering superb customer service. Adam explains how important it is that people feel comfortable within the walls of the café.  He believes that his staff play a major part in creating this environment, with the café staff having above all a love and passion for their coffee, food and service.

The concept behind the menu at Le Petit Prince is simple food using high quality ingredients, which is why Brasserie Bread was chosen as part of the menu. One dish showcasing fine produce is the smashed avocado with Yarra Valley Persian Feta served with New Zealand smoked salmon and snow pea tendrils on Brasserie’s Quinoa and Soy sourdough toast. Adam says that the Quinoa and Soy Loaf is his favourite sourdough in Melbourne and uses the loaf as the base for freshly made sandwiches in the café.

Brasserie Bread’s organic white sourdough is served as an accompaniment to beautifully crafted Israeli dish: Prince’s Shakshuka.  It’s a delicious blend of roasted tomato, capsicum and onion cooked with minced lamb and seasoned with cumin, fennel and coriander, topped with a poached egg.

Le Petit Prince also offers Brasserie Bread sourdough toasts including  our delicious Date, Apricot, Walnut and Fig loaf served with Lescure butter and locally made Cunliffe & Walters fruit jams.

Coming into the warmer months, co-owners Adam Diamond and Moise Leouzon hope to extend the café trading hours to serve simple aperitifs in the early evening.
